Neves and Assoc. Prof. Tofael Ahamed (University of Tsukuba) with Prof. Juming Tang (University of Washington).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quality loss in perishable foods stems mainly from inadequate temperature and time control during distribution. Prof. Saguy introduced thermosensitive QR codes that change colour with temperature history and can be read with a smartphone. Combined with kinetic models of quality change and AI analytics, they predict quality loss in real time, allowing better use of shelf life, safer food and less waste.
